Overview

The Grass Valley Police Department Property and Evidence Division is responsible for all items that are collected as evidence, safekeeping or found property. Once the item is collected, it is secured, monitored and tracked until such time the item is needed for court, is returned to the rightful owner, or is destroyed.

Lost and Found

All lost and found property is taken in by the Property and Evidence Unit. If you have lost an item and would like to see if it was turned in, please view the Found Property Public Posting prior to contacting the Property and Evidence Unit. The Found Property Public Posting is updated every time a found item is turned into G.V.P.D. Found items are only stored for a 90-day period pursuant to 2080.4 CIV. If you would like to claim a found property item, please contact the Property and Evidence Unit at (530) 477-4614 and reference the listed case number.

Pill Take Back Program

The City of Grass Valley participates in a National Pill Take Back Program. We have two bin locations in the city limits. The Grass Valley Police Department lobby has two bins that are available to the public for drop offs Monday – Friday 8am-5pm. Nevada County Behavioral Health has a bin located in their lobby at 500 Crown Point Cir. and can be contacted at (530) 265-1437.
