Zone Names for Emergency Alerts

Local authorities will reference specific Zone Names in emergency alerts, media updates, and social media to inform residents which areas are subject to evacuation warnings or orders. This system complements, but does not replace, CodeRED.

Do you know your Zone? Ensure you’re ready for emergencies by looking up your City of Grass Valley address to find your evacuation zone information before an emergency occurs!

Zonehaven / Genasys Protect

Our evacuation management tool, previously called “Zonehaven Aware,” has now been acquired by “Genasys Protect.” Genasys has introduced a mobile app in addition to the existing web platform. While our zones remain the same, users now have additional options through the app, such as signing up for zone notifications, including updates when evacuation orders are lifted. You can also activate location tracking to identify which zone you’re in as you travel throughout the county. The Genasys Protect app is available for download in both the App Store and Google Play.

Please note: Not every situation will require the use of Genasys Protect, just as not every emergency will call for an evacuation. However, knowing your zone in advance could save valuable time when minutes matter. Follow these five simple steps to get started:

  1. Visit the Genasys Protect website and search for your address using the search bar or your current location.
  2. Click on the highlighted zone and take note of the zone number in the description panel.
  3. Write down your zone number and place it somewhere easily visible for everyone in your household.
  4.  Subscribe to alerts to stay informed in case of an emergency.
  5. Explore the details in your zone’s description panel and bookmark any useful links provided.
