Transient Occupancy Tax is a tax charged on all rents of 30 days or less.It is authorized and regulated by the Grass Valley Municipal Code Chapter 3.16.
If you offer lodging for a fee, you are required complete the Transient Occupancy Tax Registration Form and return it to the City of Grass Valley Finance Department.
The Transient Occupancy Tax is 10% and is due monthly.The Tax Remittance form must be postmarked no later than the last day of the month following the close of the previous month.A penalty of 10% applies to any tax remittance postmarked after the last day of the month.
Any government employee on official duty is exempt from the Transient Occupancy Tax. An Exemption Certificate must be completed and kept on file with the lodging establishment.
